The Taplin Circle
To commemorate our 15th Anniversary celebration in 2004, D&R Greenway introduced the Taplin Circle, a special organization created to honor the commitment Peg and Frank Taplin have shown towards the protection of our region's open space and environment. In particular, their leadership resulted in the permanent protection of two signature Princeton landscapes. Frank provided the million dollar challenge grant that galvanized our community behind the preservation of the 589-acre Institute Woods and gave significant resources to preserve the 160-acres of fields and woodlands along the Great Road at Coventry Farm in Princeton, New Jersey.
Membership in the Taplin Circle begins with a total annual contribution of $1,000 or more. There are four membership tiers: Partner, Benefactor, Conservator and Leader, based on increasing levels of support. Contributions to general operations through the annual appeals and sponsorships to
CELEBRATE OPEN SPACE!, as well as donations towards the acquisition of land or conservation easements, accrue towards membership in the Taplin Circle.
Contributions to the Taplin Circle support D&R Greenway's ongoing mission to permanently preserve watershed lands and large-scale landscapes and to establish and extend Greenways - significant corridors of contiguous open space surrounding streams, headwaters, water recharge areas and important ecosystems. We also encourage effective stewardship, use and enjoyment of these lands. Although Frank passed away in May 2003, his unwavering support of open space and the environment will live on through the Taplin Circle, fueled by the generosity and actions of other like-minded individuals.
All Taplin Circle members are invited to a special reception each fall. For additional information about the Taplin Circle, please contact Linda Mead at (609) 924-4646 ext. 120. To become a member, click here.
